Challenges in self isolation
One of the joys of painting is the freedom to use your imagination, expertise and materials to create something unique. Not every painting will be a masterpiece; some will be awful, some will be ‘okay’, but there will be some successes.

While other people were busy buying pasta and toilet rolls, I was stocking up with canvases! My health makes me ‘vulnerable’ and despite self- isolation I could still paint.

I spent some time thinking about why painting gives me such pleasure? I decide that ‘the challenge‘ element is important - can I take an idea and put it onto canvas so others can see the story behind the image? When painting in an abstract style this is more difficult, but perhaps allowing the viewer to see their own story is an achievement.

Do you want realism in paintings or are you drawn to more abstract images?
