This painting just flowed from start to finish and it was such fun to paint. Hence the title! I used a wide flat brush to apply the paints picking up multiple colours in each brushful, then I used another tool to drag and move paint creating some lovely textural marks.
Next I added light colours to accentuate in the focal point of the picture and increased the darker colours at the bottom corners. The red accent colours were added to finish the painting using a more conventional brush.

'Ode to Joy' has been exhibited in the Eagle Gallery 20th Anniversary Exhibition and has attracted some great feedback comments.

Painted using acrylic mixed media on a cradled wood panel 75 cm square.
