About |

As an artist, I tend to work on series of paintings that follow a common theme; each new idea may be triggered by something very insignificant, but it leads me on a new artistic journey.

Along the way, I will enjoy creating expressive contemporary abstract paintings, drawing inspiration from the world around me and also from within me. While I work, I'm recalling memories of patterns I've seen or emotions I've felt, responding to what's happening in my painting and finding moments of joy in the creative process.

I love exploring the effects of light on colour, line and shape, the impact of contrasts - between lively brushstrokes and textural marks and subtle smooth colour transitions - and experiment with different techniques. I'm seeking always to share a sense of adventure, fun, drama or mystery in my paintings.

This wasn't always the way and anyone who's followed my progress will have seen a shift over the years as I developed my painting style. I've been able to collate from lots of lovely techniques and have learned about different tools to use, as I've met and worked alongside amazing artists.

I've attended exhibitions, joined in wonderful workshops and read articles. Sometimes I've loved one small nugget of technique from a course, which I've integrated into my own artistic practice. A big thank you to all those fabulous people.

Examples of recent work are shown in the galleries on this site.

My paintings are on show and for sale at Herts Chamber of Commerce in Hatfield, Artisans in the Yard in Shefford, Business Technology Centre in Stevenage, Wenta Enterprise Centre in Potters Bar, and in Hitchin Art Hub. I take part in various exhibitions throughout the year which are promoted on my website and social media. My studio in Fairfield is open to visitors by appointment.
