Going forward

Dawning of a new era
As galleries begin to reopen and local art shows invite entries, and I want to be there showing my art. Progress here as my work is now displayed at Artisans in the Yard in Shefford, and I’ve booked my place at Living Crafts Showcase in Hatfield – June 17-20. Also coming up are the Big Art Fair in Hitchin – July 16-18 – and Herts Open Studios throughout September.

My focus is now on making more and better art! Making more art simply means more time spent in the studio, planning and creating paintings. Making better art evolves from painting more. It’s accepted that consistently turning up and painting more frequently helps to evolve your artistic style, and that is one of my goals for the rest of 2021.

The new Fairfield Art Group which I’m starting on Monday June 21 will be an exciting venture. Getting to know more local people who enjoy making art. I’ve booked Karen Mangold to demonstrate at our launch event and then from Monday June 28 we will have fortnightly practical painting sessions. Each session will be from 10 am – 1 pm for just £5. On alternate weeks I will go back to Sundon Art Group where I’ve spent many happy Wednesdays in the past.

During lockdown I’ve been busy with commissioned work plus online sales of paintings and art prints. I worked on my Reflections series last autumn and started my new Spirals series this spring. For each series, I spend considerable time on research and in thinking about how the concept has touched my life. So, it’s an emotional as well as educational journey. I’ve also launched my new service ‘Seen in Situ’ helping people to see how a painting will look on their wall before they buy.

To free up time for more painting, I’m cutting back on social media. I will continue to post every day on Instagram and most days on LinkedIn, but much less on Facebook. What I post will be cut back too; most days there will be an image and the text will be encouraging people to sign up to my mailing list to find out more.
My newsletter ‘News from the studio’ will continue to give that more information and continue to be sent out every 10 days. Click here to sign up or to ask me any other questions about my art.
